This marks the end of the official Birthday celebration week for me. And I am forever done with alcohol. Kapult. If I ever see another drink again, it would be too soon.
My birthday celebration on Saturday was one of those "birthdays" to remember. I never expected such a turn-out when I was planning my party, but once again, it was one of those special moments that far exceeded my expectations. The evening started out with dinner at Azie. The restaurant is ranked on CitySearch as one of the top dining venues in the country, so I had to go there. The food was good, but the portions were teensy. Would I say that it was worth the money? Well, let's just say that having my birthday there was great, but I wouldn't go there if I was super hungry or if I had to pay. Dinner was special for I got to spend quality time with some of my closest friends...people who I hold dear to my heart. Some of these friends I hadn't seen in years, but in some way or another, we managed to get back in touch in the last few months...and long behold, they all come back into my life again. I felt really "loved" that so many people (15 people in total) made it out to eat with me.
After dinner, we all trekked over to the SupperClub for the festivities. There were some issues with over-capacity, so we all told our friends to show up before 10 PM, to avoid the $10 cover. Being that most of them were Asian, I didn't think a $10 cover would be incentive enough for people to arrive early, but alas, I was wrong. This was the first predominantly Asian party that I have ever witnessed, where the room was near capacity before I arrived at 9:15 PM. That just goes to show that we, Asians, are either cheap OR very time-conscious. Somehow I would place money on the former because the words "on-time" and "Asian" don't mesh very well.
The party was great. If dinner was a nice reunion with good friends, then the party was certainly a "blast from the past!" I would say 80% of the people there for my party were Bruins, and most, I haven't seen since my college days. I don't know where they came from OR how they heard about the party, but it was so very good to see them all. I think it was good for a lot of people there to see old friends again, too.
Of all the people in attendance, I want to give mad "shout-outs" to Sandy and Joe for fighting jet-lag (after having arrived from London earlier that morning), and "partying like it's 1999" with me! You guys are the best, and I was so happy to see your smiling faces! And um, SKO...your ring is quite the "bling-bling." Congratulations, my love! You totally deserve it!
And many, many thanks to all of you who phoned, e-mailed, sent an e-Card, IMed, and text-messaged me on my Birthday! You guys ROCK! I have great friends, who sure know how to make a girl feel special.
Woo-Hoo!
